More than 2,300 Companies Approved for Funding Under the Energy Efficiency Program for Enterprises

In January 2026, the Ministry of Innovation and Growth announced that 1,322 companies had been approved for funding totaling 59.3 million euros under the procedure “Energy Efficiency and Use of Energy from Renewable Sources in Enterprises” (BG16RFPR001-2.004). The procedure attracted significant interest, with 2,678 companies applying, more than 70% of which were located outside Sofia.

In early February, the Directorate-General for European Funds for Competitiveness (DG EFC) announced that all 1,073 project proposals from the reserve list under the same procedure would also receive funding of €45.8 million.

The procedure, which is part of the “Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises” Program 2021–2027 (CIEP), was open for applications between July and October of last year. Its aim is to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in investing in assets related to energy efficiency and the use of energy from renewable sources (RES). The overall goal is to accelerate the private sector’s transition toward climate neutrality and environmentally sustainable operations.

Businesses will acquire new energy-efficient systems and equipment, including biomass boilers, heat pumps, solar systems for hot water and domestic hot water supply, systems for utilizing waste heat and cold, heat recovery units, chillers, air conditioning units, air coolers, air compressors, centralized compressed air system controls, compressed air dryers, insulation systems, energy-saving lighting fixtures, photovoltaic panels, inverters, batteries, and a photovoltaic power plant.

The grant ranges from 15,000 to 50,000 euros, covering up to 65% of the costs for assets, equipment, and facilities. Additional costs for auxiliary materials and construction and installation works (CIW) for the completion and installation of the investment will also be funded.

Projects will be implemented over a maximum period of 12 months.
